Day 14: Music in the Park & Down Time

This morning started as the others did. Andrew still had a few loose ends to tie up on his fire stuff before he could be finished, so we girls went out again for the day. Whitney had some errands to run in town, including buying a new stove top burner. Last night, she invited me to go with she and Anna Marie to the last summer music in the park in Hamilton. The three of us headed out around 10:00am. After we finished all the errands, we walked around some of the downtown shops before heading over to the park at noon when the music started.

Show me your muscles!

Right before we made it to the park, Whitney warned me that I might be in for a real treat. Apparently, there’s a couple that shows up at practically every music festival in the surrounding area. They have a name…the Spinners, a couple somewhere between the age of mid 50’s to late 60’s, always in shorty shorts, super tan and dancing. But these are not your typical dance moves. We’re talking full on (or at least what appears to be) tripping on acid type dancing. They’re grabbing nonexistent objects in the air and other moves I cannot even being to explain. Unfortunately, I did not take a photo of this to help all of you get a better grasp of what I am trying to explain. Trust me; I don’t do these two folks justice. Plus, I was terrified to take a photo as Whitney warned me that they do not like the attention. We had some people sitting a few feet away from us that were taking photos, and the man’s reaction was not one I cared for. Imagine watching man making bull horns on his head with his pointer fingers and acting like he was going to charge them. He would also kiss his hand and do this fluttery hand motion until it touched his butt cheek. I did not want to be on the receiving end of that type of aggression! It was quite hysterical to watch however.

After all that fun was over, Whitey and I had to work very hard to keep Anna Marie awake again. If she fell asleep in the car there was no chance she was going to go back to sleep once we got home. Whitney quoted books from memory; we played games, read books, pointed out every tractor, horse and cow we passed, trying to keep her attention.  Our efforts paid off! We successfully kept her awake until we got home. Then, in true Anna Marie fashion, she pointed at her crib, said “bed” and went to sleep.

While we were gone for the morning, Andrew was able to finish his book work and essay. He headed into town to get some papers signed and I stayed at the house and continued working on the blog for a bit. Once John was finished with work, we all went out for an evening stroll near their house. Once we got back, John and Whitney put Anna Marie to bed. Andrew and I offered to watch Anna Marie so they could have a date night, which they gladly accepted. The two of us made dinner and started watching Cinderella Man while we waited for the hillbilly hot tub to heat up. Every 45 minutes or so Andrew would go out and give it a good stir and stoke the fire. Once John and Whitney returned, we headed outside for a dip in the feeding trough. We talked of our plans for the rest of the week and watch some shooting stars. After a good hour soak and raisin skin, we finally headed inside to rinse off in the shower and hit the sack.
